About the St. Thérèse Lecture Series

The St. Thérèse Lecture Series was inaugurated by Bishop William H. Bullock of Madison in the year 2000.

For 25 years, the Diocese of Madison has sought to provide opportunities for the faithful to receive experiences (talks, presentations, etc.) of the life-giving presence of our Catholic Tradition.

The hope is to assist those who attend to learn more about their faith and to live more authentically the charity which St. Thérèse of Lisieux came to understand as her vocation.

Founding her “little way” of spiritual childhood in her letters and other writings — particularly her autobiography, The Story of a Soul — St. Thérèse lived her vocation of love.

By making herself “very little,” she allowed God to make her service to the Gospel and to the Church very great.

St. John Paul II, who declared her a Doctor of the Church in 1997, said, “Thérèse appears as an authentic teacher of faith and the Christian life. As a woman, as a contemplative, and as a young person, St. Thérèse is truly a ‘teacher for the Church of our time.’”

Through the lecture series, over the past 25 years, the Diocese of Madison has hosted many internationally recognized spiritual leaders in service to the mission of the Church.
