Statement on Antisemitism
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
In the name of the Catholic community in Madison, I denounce the disturbing rise of antisemitism throughout the world, the country and here in our own city. Racial and religious hatred and violence have no place in the human family and must be condemned and opposed by all of us in the strongest terms. Justice demands this response. The recent Neo-Nazi demonstration here in Madison is a sinful blight of darkness on our community. We pray for the conversion of minds and hearts to recognize the inalienable dignity of every human person, made in the image and likeness of God. I trust that our beloved Jewish brothers and sisters know and feel the loving solidarity of us all in this moment of division and evil. We stand with you in the building of a peaceful and just society.
Yours in Christ,
+Donald J. Hying
Bishop of Madison
